Dr. D. Robert Davis, 84, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home. He was born in Lakewood, Ohio, on Aug. 22, 1929, and grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He graduated from Cleveland Heights High School, and entered Ohio State University where he earned three degrees, including doctor of philosophy. He was a member of Sequoyah United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. He was drafted into the Army in 1953 for two years and was sent to Fort McClellan, Ala., where he was assigned to the Headquarters Co. of the 476th Chemical Battalion. He was a senior scientist for Colgate-Palmolive Co., section leader for Best Foods and received three food patents, senior scientist for Johnson & Johnson Co., and professor in the food processing department with the University of Arkansas, and had 45 research publications. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane L. Davis Thielemier. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne White Davis; daughter, Carolyn R. Davis Johnston; and grandson, David R. Thielemier. Private memorial services will be held at Fayetteville National Cemetery. Arrangements are with Heritage Funeral Home; online guest book at heritageofnwa.com.
