Jerry Mason, age 67, of Clinton, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at his home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, Mo. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service and interment will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014, in McCord Cemetery, Elkins, Ark. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Missouri Veteran's Home-Warrensburg and can be left in care of the funeral home. Fond memories and condolences may be left online at http://www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com/. Jerry was born Aug. 7, 1946, in Fayetteville, Ark., the son of Clint and Alice (Eubanks) Mason. At an early age, Jerry was baptized and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his life. Primarily, Jerry was brought up Baptist, but he worshiped in God's house of all religious affiliations. For most of his life, Jerry was raised by his grandmother of Elkins, Ark., where he grew up and attended school until graduating as president of his class. Soon after he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Someone asked Jerry the other day, what would you consider your greatest accomplishment? First of all, that he served his country in the U.S. Navy. He served as commander for the American Legion Clem Dicketts 014 and for the VFW Post 1894 in Clinton. He also volunteered numerous hours at the Bingo kitchen. Jerry was an Eagles member and a member of the Warrensburg Elk's Lodge. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Mason; a twin sister, Janice Mason-Tincher; and his brother-in-law, Charlie Tincher; as well as his canine friends, Jack, Jack II and Mickey. Survivors include longtime friend and companion of nearly 40 years, Patty Page; and his beloved canine companion, Chance of the home; foster son, Shannon Rank of Warrensburg, Mo.; nephews, Roger Northam of Fayetteville, Ark., Randy Northam of Sprindale, Ark., Michael Kellar of Berryville, Ark., Tony Mason of Conway, Ark., and Jason Mason of Fayetteville, Ark.; and nieces, Adeline Northam of Independence, Kan., and Tina Mason Galloway of Conway, Ark. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Mo.
