Rosario 'John' Distefano

Rosario "John" Distefano, 82, of Bella Vista died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at his home. He was born March 28, 1931, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Guiseppa Campagna and Giovanni Distefano. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was awarded a Bronze Star while serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Bella Vista American Legion. He enjoyed golf, hunting and trap shooting. He was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church for many years. He had lived in the Northwest Arkansas area since March 1992, after moving from Omaha, Neb. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. John is survived by his wife, Sharry Distefano, whom he married June 8, 1983; two sons, John Distefano and his wife, Carol, of Glendale, Ariz., Bryan Edsill and his partner, Lolly, of Tekamah, Neb.; four daughters, Sherry Distefano of Omaha, Neb., Lisa Higgins of Omaha, Neb., Cindy Hall and her husband, Stu, of Lincoln, Neb., Celinda Mason and her husband, Jack, of Lincoln, Neb.; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire. Memorials may be sent to the Bella Vista Community Church or the Bella Vista Animal Shelter.
