Mary Elizabeth 'Liz' Watkins

Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Watkins, born in Fayetteville, Ark., Aug. 11, 1934, died March 1, 2014, in Little Rock, Ark. The daughter of O.H. Gamble and Mary Christine Gamble, Liz was a longtime Fayetteville resident. Liz graduated from Fayetteville High School and attended the University or Arkansas where she studied music. She was a loving wife and mother but also found time to spend many years playing piano as a voice accompanist in the U of A music department. Liz was married to W.P. "Pat" Watkins for 40 years prior to his death in 1995. Liz is survived by her son, Bill Watkins (Lisa) of Rogers; daughter, Chris Moore (Mark), and granddaughter, Mary Catherine Moore, all of Little Rock; her sister, Anna K. Buck of Denver, Colo.; and nephews, Jeff Buck and Jim Buck, also of Denver. A memorial service honoring her life will be held at First United Presbyterian Church, 695 E. Calvin St., Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Walton Arts Center, P.O. Box 3547, Fayetteville, Ark. 72702.
