Elva "Jean" Landauer, 75, of Garfield, AR, was united with her Lord Jesus in death on Friday, March 7, 2014, in her home after a long illness. Jean was born on July 23, 1938 in Nekoosa, Wis., to Francis and Elva Olive Giese. She was baptized on Aug. 21, 1938, and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in 1952. She attended Nekoosa High School and Concordia Teacher's College in River Forest, Ill., graduating in June 1960. She was wedded to her spouse of 53 years, LeRoy Landauer on June 18, 1960, in Nekoosa, Wis. Following college, Jean taught elementary school for seven years, later served as school secretary for two years and then finally became a homemaker and volunteer. In her leisure time, Jean enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, reading, gardening, fishing, swimming, and volunteering in her community and church. Every Monday, you could find Jean serving the Church office at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers. She was a member of the NEBCO (Northeast Fire Department) in Benton County and the New Meadowbrook Extension Club. She also tutored for eight years at Garfield School and enjoyed reading with the students. She had a passion for working with young people and seeing them grow and mature. Jean is survived by her spouse, Lee, who resides in Garfield; two brothers, Gordon and Fritz of Wisconsin; three daughters, Carol Bills (Bradley), of Grand Island, Neb., Susan Dickinson (Martin), of Aurora, Colo., Bonnie Gust (Roger) of Garfield, and seven grandchildren, Glenn, Kurt, Douglas, Aaron, Valerie, Jessica and Zachary. Her husband, Lee, her daughters, and her Savior took care of her and loved her to the end. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Elva and an infant son, Douglas. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers with Pastor Gordon Besel officiating with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorial gifts are suggested to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for the Memorial Shed or Children's Shelter funds. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Circle of Life Hospice and the many friends that loved and supported Jean, both over the years and through her last months.
