John Roy Anderson, age 65, of Bella Vista died surrounded by his family on March 1, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. He was born in Evansville, Ind., on March 16, 1948. John was a 1966 graduate of Mater Dei High School in Evansville, Ind., and served as a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. After Vietnam, he became an EMT and was a respiratory therapist for over 40 years. He worked for the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville. John was proud of his German and Scottish heritage. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was camping, trout fishing, shooting guns, playing golf or enjoying a good beer. John enjoyed traveling, and was always up for a road trip or a vacation, including trips to Scotland and Germany. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Susan Anderson; his mother, Mildred Louise (Nix) Phillips; children, Jacylyn Thrush and husband, Peter, of Rogers, Jourdan Anderson and wife, Heather, of Springdale, Jimmy Ames-Lovett of Springdale, Rebecca Leis and husband, Matthew, of Bentonville, Greg Zabinski (USAF) stationed in Germany; brothers, Gary Anderson of Florida, Rick Anderson of Georgia, Paul Jourdan of Indiana, Charlie Jourdan of Indiana; sister, Sophia Aragon of California; grandchildren, Brian Kilpatrick, Bradley Lovett, Destinee Thrush, Breanna Lovett, Ethan Anderson, Caleb McGarrah, Austin Thrush, Emma McGarrah, Carson Anderson, Jakob Leis, Charlotte Leis; great-grandson, Thatcher Kilpatrick; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, in the Rollins Funeral Home chapel, officiated by Chaplain Col. Brenson Bishop, U.S. Army (Ret.). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the USO or to any veteran service organization. Cremation arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
