Delores Irene Owens

Delores Irene Owens, 75, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Feb. 25, 2014, in Harlingen, Texas. She was born on Jan. 25, 1939, in Decatur, Ark., to the late Henry Newton and Ella Pauline (Kramer) Ackerman. Irene married Robert "Bob" Sheldon Owens on April 5, 1957, in Muskogee, Okla. She and Bob lived in Bentonville until 1968, then moved to Brownsville, Texas. Irene owned and operated a daycare facility there for several years before relocating to Port Isabel, Texas. She then owned and operated a laundry at San Benito, Texas. Irene is survived by her son, Robert "Kirk" Owens and wife, Laura, of Texas; two grandchildren, Kirk Anthony Owens and Brittany Ann Owens; siblings, Mary Tipton, Frances Milliken, Elaine Tillman (husband, Harley), John Ackerman (wife, Tonia), Edward Ackerman (wife, Sharon), Catherine Wright (husband, Roy) and Wayne Ackerman. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers, Buddy and Rolla Ackerman. A funeral service will be Friday, March 7, 2014, at 10 a.m. in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel.
