Bobby Joe "Bob" Mayes, 88, of Fayetteville died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home. He was born May 25, 1925, in Fayetteville to John and Rachel Kathryn Raney Mayes. Bob served in the Navy during World War II. He attended Baptist churches and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a mechanic throughout his life operating together with his brother, Richard, Mayes Auto Service, and later working with his son. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his son, John "Marlin" Mayes and wife, Patty, of Fayetteville; four granddaughters, Niki Frogg and husband, Brian, Chrissy Cuzick and husband, Shane, of Lincoln, Jamie Wood and husband, Cody, of Fayetteville, Kimber Kiersey and husband, Aaron, of Coffeyville, Kan.; and eight great-grandchildren, Paul, Destinee, Kassidy, Logan, Kennadie, Edyn, Colt and Luke. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Mission Boulevard Baptist Church. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
