Michael 'Mike' Jay Lyons

Michael "Mike" Jay Lyons, 77, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Circle of Life Hospice Legacy in Bentonville, Ark. He was born on Jan. 27, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., to Myron Lyons and Gene Olswanger Lyons. He retired from teaching after 23 years as a history teacher and seven years as a teacher of the broadcasting field. He was a Civil War re-enactor. He was Kiwanis Key Club sponsor, Uptown tutoring, Illinois tennis coaches hall of fame inductee, camp counselor in Menominee, Wis. In Arkansas, he was a member of the Greater Ozark Barber Shop Chapter, Men's Chorus, retreads traveling softball, P.O.A. Recreation Committee, Good Sam's camper and not ready for Primetime Bridge Club. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Lyons of Bella Vista, Ark.; and two sons, Jeffrey Lyons of Bella Vista, Ark., Gregory Lyons of Joplin, Mo. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on March 7, 2014, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark., with Father Dave Stephens C.C.C. officiating.
