James M. Smith, 69, of Pea Ridge, died Friday, Feb. 28, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville. He was born Nov. 12, 1944, at Pea Ridge, to John Melvin Smith and Bernice Mae Criner Smith. He graduated from Pea Ridge High School, and served in the US Army stationed in Germany. He was employed at RTW in Rogers as a tool and die maker, enjoyed gardening and working outdoors, and watching football and basketball on TV. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Bentonville, and re-dedicated his life to the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 27. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant son. Survivors are his wife Marianne, who he married Oct. 7, 1967; two sons, Karl Smith of Pea Ridge, and James M. Smith of North Carolina; two brothers, Johnny Smith and wife Penny of Pea Ridge, and Gerald Smith and wife Mary of Rogers; two daughters, Janice Reddell and husband Burline of Pea Ridge, Jeannie Smith of Pineville, Mo.; and five grandchildren. Graveside services are set for Wednesday, March 5, 10 a.m. at Pea Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Dorothy Wall officiating. No visitation is scheduled.
