Dorothy Raye Davenport, 81, of the Round Mountain Community, near Fayetteville, Ark., died June 21, 2014, at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab in Huntsville, Ark. She was born Aug. 30, 1932, at Asher, Ark., the daughter of Raymond Edward and Erna Patrick Hankins. She was a graduate of Saint Paul High School and had retired from Bear Brand Hosiery after more than 20 years of service. She moved to the Round Mountain Community in 1960 where she raised cattle and later broilers for many years. She was strong willed with a strong work ethic. Those traits showed in her farming, gardening, canning and cooking skills, with her pies being the cream of the crop secondary to her children. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Warren Tackett. Survivors include her husband, Tom R. Davenport of the home, whom she married on March 18, 1955, at Durham, Ark.; one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy Keith and Mary Davenport of Fayetteville, Ark.; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet Raye and Ted O'Neal of Elkins, Ark.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Bennie and Carmel Hankins of Fayetteville, Ark., and George Hankins of Elkins, Ark.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, in Brashears Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tim Beers officiating. Interment in Pinnacle Cemetery, by Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net, of Huntsville, Ark. Pallbearers will be Marshall Evans, Jarred Tackett, David Thornton, Darrell Tunstill, Dale Riggins and Charles Glenn. Honorary pallbearer will be Joey O'Neal. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Brashears. Memorials may be made to the Pinnacle Cemetery or the Patrick Cemetery.
