John Dwight Steele

John Dwight Steele, 89, of Huntsville, Ark., died June 19, 2014, at Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born March 18, 1925, at Wharton, Ark., the son of Samuel Webster and Pearl Bolinger Steele. He was a longtime Huntsville businessman and had operated "It" Antiques for several years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army and was a member of the Huntsville Church of Christ, Hayes-Smith Post #137, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had been active in the Republican party most of his life and had served on the Arkansas A.S.C.S. board, the Huntsville City Council, and the board of Huntsville Memorial Hospital and Meadowview Lodge. He was currently serving on the board of The Madison County Medical Group and was a member of the Masonic fraternity. Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Jack Scott and Linda and Dean McChristian, all of Huntsville, Ark.; three brothers, Duane Steele of Springdale, Ark., Samuel Arthur Steele of Huntsville, Ark., and Leon Steele of Benton, Ark.; one sister, Helen Tait of Los Altos, Calif.; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Tom and Amber Scott and Jerry and Nicole McChristian, all of Huntsville, Ark.; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Christy and Earl Carter of Huntsville, Ark.; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Larry Combs, Minister officiating. Interment will be in the Steele Family Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Ark. Pallbearers will be: Earl Carter, Jerry McChristian, Tom Scott, Stacy Tait, Layne Tait, Doug Steele and Rocky Steele. Visitation 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at Brashears.
