Mary Flo Edmiston

Mary Flo Edmiston, age 90, of Overland Park, Kan., a longtime resident of Decatur, died on July 22, 2014. She was born in Gravette on July 27, 1923, to the late Joseph and Lolita (Hilboldt) McAllister. She was briefly a teacher at Gravette High School but spent most of her life teaching elementary students at Decatur public schools. On Nov. 27, 1947, she married C. Tom Edmiston and remained married to him until his death in 1980. In retirement, she loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit every continent with the exception of Antarctica. Mary Flo is survived by son, Tom Edmiston and wife, Lisa, of Bentonville; daughter, Jo Anna Crabtree and husband, David, of Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Jason Edmiston (Elaine) of Las Vegas, Nev., Patty Edmiston of Seattle, Wash., Paul Crabtree of Overland Park, Kan., Isaac Crabtree (Stephanie) of Overland Park, Kan., Jonathan Crabtree (Katie) of Louisville, Ky., Philip Crabtree (Kaleigh) of Fayetteville; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Decatur United Methodist Church, with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery.
