David Dorsey Loomis, 92, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Friday, July 18, 2014, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark. David was born on Jan. 11, 1922, in Omaha, Neb., to Verne and Ethel Loomis. He and his wife, Dixie, moved to Bella Vista, Ark., from Omaha, Neb., in 1986. He was a World War II veteran who served in the South Pacific as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was an opera-trained singer, all-star baseball player in high school, and avid golfer. He was a kind and generous man who loved the Lord. David is survived by his wife of 65 years, Veda "Dixie" Loomis of Bella Vista, Ark.; four daughters, Sharen Lemen "Jim" of Blair, Neb., Joanie Davis of Joplin, Mo., Susan LaHood of Bella Vista, Ark., and Linda Birge "Dick" of Papillion, Neb.; nine grandchildren, Kim, Jim and Jeff Lemen, Pat and Mike Davis and Sarah Nigro, Greg, Monica and David Birge; along with several great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, July, 22, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The following day, Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. a memorial service will be held at Abundant Life Ministries, 2262 Forest Hills Blvd. Bella Vista, Ark., 72715; 855-2000 with Pastor Chuck Worth, a private burial will be held at the V.A. National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark., at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Circle of Life Hospice. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.
