James William Connelly, 89, of Fayetteville, Ark. (formerly of Poteau, Okla.) passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 in Fayetteville. James was born May 2, 1925 in Poteau, Okla. to Joseph & Helen Connelly. James was a veteran of U.S. Navy. He taught high school agriculture & worked in the livestock industry. James served as an ordained Deacon in First Baptist Church, Poteau, Okla. and First Baptist Church, Hope, Ark. where he taught a Men's Sunday School class. He was a member of Cross Church, Springdale, Ark. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved crappie fishing and quail hunting. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary Jo Henson, Betty Connelly, Patsy Branscum, Patricia Connelly, Margaret Campbell; brother, Harrel Connelly; beloved son-in-law, Dr. Walter Allison; his parents & step-father, Perry Chaffin. Survivors include is wife of 67 years, Reba Burrow Connelly of Fayetteville, Ark.; daughters, Deborah Allison of Conway, Ark., Donna Blackwood (Mel) & Kimberly North (Mike) of Fayetteville, Ark.; son, Edwin Connelly (Cissy) of Fripp Island, S.C.; grandchildren, Kara Bell (Rob), Kalyn Evans (Justin), Kyle Allison, Clint Blackwood, Mandy Blackwood, Jim Connelly (Amanda), Christian Connelly, Ayden North, Landon North; great-grandchildren, Allie Bell, Connelly Bell, Blake Evans & (due Sept. 2014) Samuel Walter Connelly; other relatives, loved ones & friends. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion, Poteau with Rev. Milburn Burrow officiating. Burial will follow. Evans & Miller Funeral Home, Poteau, Okla.
