Michael John Farmer

Michael John Farmer, 70, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, lost his battle with cancer on July 16, 2014. Mike was born Nov. 24, 1943, in St. Joseph, Mo. He was a warrior during his life and throughout his fight with cancer, retaining his pride and sense of humor until the end. He was a policeman at heart, having retired as sergeant with the St. Louis County Police Department, followed by a career with BNSF as a special agent and damage prevention manager, and finally as part of the security team at J.B. Hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Farmer and Mary Jane Holland; and one sister, Sharon Halloran. He is survived by his wife, Robyn; daughters, Karen (Brian) Fergusson, Kendra (Frank) Copanas and Kristine (Kevin Steiner) Farmer; sister, Kendra (Bob) Mathieu; six grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. A memorial service will be held in St. Louis at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bella Vista Animal Shelter in Arkansas. Mike loved all animals and was devoted to his four dogs and cat.
