Clyde "Dick" Ellis went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 9, 2014, at Legacy Village Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark., at the age of 89. He was born to Calvin Grover Ellis and Clarindia Rodgers on Nov. 24, 1924, of Best, Ark. Dick retired after 20 years in the Army as a master sergeant E8. Dick spent most of his time looking after neighbor's cattle, building fence and any other neighborly kindness. He did not know how to sit still; Dick was always looking for something to do and he had a handshake that left a positive impression. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ellen Parsons-Ellis; two sons, Fred Ellis, Calvin Ellis; and three daughters, Elaine Ellis-Sanders, Tricia Ellis and Vicki Ellis-Haddock (Sid); eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Honorary family members, Dee, Dick, Sharon, Debbie, Sondra and Beverly. Funeral services 10 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 North 4th, Rogers, with Pastor Johnny Harp officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the Austin Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
