Frank James Shuler - 83 of Elkins, Ark. Frank James Shuler, 83, died the morning of July 4, 2014, at his home in Elkins, Ark. A visitation will be held at Moore's Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Ark., on Tuesday, July 8 from 5 p.m.–7 p.m. Funeral service will follow on Wednesday, July 9, at Moore's Funeral Home at 1 p.m. followed by a burial service at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark. Born Oct. 19, 1930, in Bulo, Okla., to Mary Magdaline Brown and James Melvin Shuler. Attended the University of Arkansas where he was a walk-on football player for the Razorbacks. Served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 where he attained the rank of Senior Aircraft Crew Chief and Flight Engineer for search and rescue missions from Goose Bay Labrador. He ultimately became the Staff Sergeant and received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Frank began his career in the automotive business at Hatfield Pontiac from 1955-1957, then to Fisher Buick Mercedes Benz for 25 years from 1957-1982. From there Frank started his own business, Shuler Autohaus, in 1982 and remained active in its operation until his death. His Family wrote: "Frank's generosity, his commitment to always do the right thing, his kind heart and thoughtfulness were an inspiration to his family. We have fond memories of these things. We were truly blessed and the time we spent together are beautiful memories carved in our hearts forever." He is survived by Peggy Virginia Shuler, his wife of 61 years; two sons, Roger Duane Shuler and his wife, Cindy of Wheeler, Ark., and John Gary Shuler and his wife, Kimberly Marie of Fayetteville, Ark.; daughter, Ramah Sue "Susie" Slone and her husband, Michael David of Fayetteville, Ark. Blessed with six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who all live here locally. Preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Goldie Fay Harrison and Sylvia May Fields.
