Delmer Watkins

Delmer "Tub" Watkins, 78, of Siloam Springs, Ark., passed Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at The Maples in Springdale, Ark. He was born March 2, 1935, in Chewey, Okla., to the late Pete Watkins and Mandy Phelps Watkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, six brothers, and one sister. He is survived by one son, Alan Watkins of Anderson, Mo.; one daughter, Lori Cagle of Springdale, Ark.; one granddaughter, Felecia Cagle Hancock and husband Chris of Little Rock, and one grandson, Nikolas Cagle of Springdale; and numerous nieces and nephews and many cherished friends in the community. Delmer was self-employed throughout his life and his strong work ethic brought him success in a variety of occupations. He lived most of his life in Siloam Springs, but also lived in Oregon from in the '60s where he was an expert lumberjack. He also operated heavy machinery, farmed, delivered feed and operated the Stateline Cafe in the span of his career. Delmer enjoyed fishing and hunting and he could always be found enjoying coffee and conversation at the Benton County Sale Barn Cafe. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs with Pastor Mike Walker officiating.
