Joe Harold Velten

Joe Harold Velten, 70, a resident of Prairie Grove passed away Jan. 16, 2014, at his home. He was born May 15, 1943, in Carthage, Mo., the son of Albert Joseph and Dorothy Marie Dodson Velten. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 to 1967. He was a member of the Grace Harbor Church in Rogers, Ark. Joe enjoyed many things in life, such as hunting, fishing, trapping and anything to do with the outdoors. He loved to refinish antique furniture, most of all Hoosier Kitchen Cabinets. He was well-known all over the country as "The Hoosier Man." Joe and Brenda owned and operated Keep It Country Antiques in Prairie Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Brenda Velten; two sons, Charlie Daniels and his wife, Amy, and Dennis Daniels, one daughter, Amanda Velten, all of Prairie Grove; one grandson, Dakota Daniels; two granddaughters, Emily Daniels and Aubrey Daniels; one brother, Larry Velten of Sarcoxie, Mo.; two sisters, Lynda Chandler, also of Sarcoxie, Cindy Sooter of Nixa, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-7 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, 2 p.m. at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, with burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Online guest book, www.luginbuel.com.
