Claude Center

Claude "Jack" Center Jr., age 95, of Greenland passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, in Fayetteville. He was born the oldest of eight children on March 12, 1918, in Schaberg, Ark., the son of Claude Randall Center Sr. and Ica Ora Robinson Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Center. He was a mechanic for Reed & Griffith and a member of First Baptist Church in Greenland. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by two daughters, Loretta Baugus of Greenland, Ark., Bethel Spencer of Fayetteville, Ark.; two sons, Randall L. Center and his wife, Beth, of Prairie Grove, Ark., Terry Center and his wife, Karen, of Fayetteville, Ark.; a brother, Jim Center of Cedar Hill, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Greenland, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the church.
