William (Bill) Curtis Adair

William (Bill) Curtis Adair passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014, at his home in Little Rock, Arkansas. Bill was born on November 29, 1938 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to William Curtis and Willine Forrest Adair. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, William (Bo) Mitchell Adair. Bill leaves his wife of 52 years, Jenny Mitchell Adair of Little Rock; daughter, April Adair Wessels and husband Steve Wessels, and granddaughters, Ashtin and Camdyn all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; brother, Edward F. Adair and Marinell of Bentonville, Ark., sister-in-law Phyllis Mitchell Johnson of Springdale, AR. He was also survived by five nephews and their families: Robert and Kendra Adair of Rogers, Ark, Steve and Brittany Adair of Fayetteville, Ark., Mike and Nena Farris of Benton, Ark., Jason and Heather Johnson of Eureka Springs, AR, Wil Johnson of Springdale, Ark. as well as a host of other relatives and lifelong friends. The Adair family moved to Fayetteville where he attended public school and graduated in the class of 1957. He received his B.A. from the University of Arkansas in 1961. He married his high school sweetheart Jenny Mitchell in 1962. Bill served in the U.S. Army before returning to Fayetteville where he received his Juris Doctorate. He spent the last 25 years of his career as an Assistant United States Attorney in Little Rock. Bill made his homes in Muskogee, Ft. Smith, Fayetteville, Paragould, Batesville and Little Rock where he spent time with family and friends. Bill lived and loved life to the fullest! He was (not in any particular order) a pilot, sailor, fisherman, duck and quail hunter, camper, cattleman, Razorback fan, yachtsman, school bus driver, model airplane enthusiast, soldier, lawyer, farm supply dealer, RV traveler, a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was a devoted Methodist and founded the Mustard Seed Young Adult Sunday school class at Little Rock's FUMC. He aslso served a variety of roles in many civic organizations and boards. He considered himself a "Yellow Dog Democrat", as was his mother. His passion for life was first a priority in his practice of law. His daughter always said, "Dad was the most ethical man I ever knew". A memorial service and celebration of Bill's life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, 723 Center Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. Honorary pallbearers include: Robert Fussell, Jim VanDover, Robert Dawson, Bill Fisher, Larry Lawson, Don Schnipper, Paul Berry, Craig Wood, Dan Kell, Gary Darwin, Jon Dermott and "The Bible Boys".
