William Haynes Boon

William Haynes "Bill" Boon, 75, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at his home. He was born June 13, 1938, in Centerton, Ark., to Robert Haynes Boon and Lucile Elizabeth Begley Boon. He was a lifelong resident of Bentonville and graduated from Bentonville High School in 1956, where he played football, basketball, and ran track for the Tigers. He attended the University of Arkansas and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. From 1959 to 1962, he served in the Army stationed in Taiwan. As a third-generation member of the family, Bill managed and owned Boon Bros. General Store in Centerton, Ark., for many years. Before retirement, he owned the manufacturing company, Lucky Charm USA. As a member of Daybreak Rotary, he participated in the many projects and was a volunteer at Crystal Bridges Museum. Bill loved watching the Tigers play and was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan, attending all football and basketball games. He enjoyed his monthly luncheons with the BHS class of '56. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Boon; and a grandson, Ellis William Gardner. Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Celia Solis Boon; two daughters, Julie Knight and husband, Jeff, of Bentonville, Nancy Gardner and husband, Ward, of Little Rock, Ark.; the grandgirls, Madeline and Caroline Knight, Julianna and Audrey Gardner; and all his nieces and nephews. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Bella Vista Community Church with the Rev. Dr. Anna Teel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Bill Boon to the Bentonville Public School Foundation, 500 Tiger Blvd., Bentonville AR 72712; or Daybreak Rotary, P.O.
