Bobbie J. McElhaney

Bobbie J. McElhaney, 82, of Charleston died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014. She was born Feb. 6, 1932, in Vernon, Texas, to J.L. and Pauline Thomas. She was a graduate of Vernon High School. She was a member of Charleston First Baptist Church, active member of the community and Franklin County, serving alongside her late husband, Curtis. Bobbie was retired from the Chicken Processing Plant in Bloomer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis W. McElhaney; a son, John C. McElhaney; and a sister, Billie Lane. Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Smith Mortuary Chapel with burial at Mount Olive Cemetery near Elkins under the direction of Smith Mortuary. She is survived by a son, James W. McElhaney and wife, DeAnn of Nacogdoches, Texas; a granddaughter, Breanna, and a grandson, Will, of Nacogdoches; granddaughters, Sabrina Griffin and husband, Nate Griffin, of Ft. Worth, Texas; a great-granddaughter, Kennedi; Teresa Butler and husband, Trevor, of Eielson AFB, Alaska; a daughter-in-law, Susan Fackler and husband, T.J., of Booneville; a sister-in-law, Cuba Fritts of the Wesley community; and a sister-in-law, Virginia McElhaney of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces, -nephews and numerous other family and friends. Pallbearers will be Joe Dick Burt, Judge Joe Powell, Greg Bohannon, Dr. Charles Miesner, Kim Loughridge and Reed Haynes. The family will visit with friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Charleston.
