Bonnie Whitmore

Bonnie Kirby Whitmore, 77, of Bentonville died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at the Bradford House Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bentonville. She was born Aug. 2, 1936, in Howard County, Ark., the daughter of Taylor Kirby and Gladys Kesterson Kirby. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Hobson Whitmore; and her brothers, Rex Kirby and Ray Kirby. Bonnie was a graduate of Southern State College (now SAU) and earned a master's degree and doctorate in education from the University of Arkansas. She taught school in many locations and finished her career as an administrator and teacher in Springdale. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Springdale. She served as a volunteer for many years at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. Bonnie is survived by two sons, Mike Whitmore and his wife, Marjorie, of Rogers, David Whitmore of Springdale; four grandchildren; and many other loving friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave., Springdale, AR 72764.
