Nell Marie Smith

Nell Marie Smith, 92, of Fayetteville went to be with her Lord on Dec. 18, 2014, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Tacoma, Wash., to Esther Thompson Bishop and Lynn T. Bishop. She married Neal B. Smith Aug. 18, 1940. They were married 55 years, until his death. Also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Smith. Neal and Nell retired to Fayetteville in 1978 from Newport Beach, Calif. Nell enjoyed morning bike rides to the beach, gardening, Bible studies, making cookies and nurturing her grandchildren. She was sustained by her strong faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior. She is survived by daughters, Patricia Joslyn and husband, David; and Judi Lee, both of Fayetteville; daughter-in-law, Sharon Black and husband, Bill of Newington, N.H.; grandchildren, Debbie Tuttle and husband, Larry; John K. Carpenter and wife, Cristina; and Kimberly Snodgrass and husband, Eric, all of Fayetteville; Laurie Jefferies of Exeter, N.H.; and Jeff Lowe and wife, Tonja of Fountain Valley, CA.; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at noon Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Curtiss Smith officiating.
