Emma Juanita "Nita" Bain

Emma Juanita "Nita" Bain, 96, of Rogers, and formerly of Chanute, Kan., passed away Dec. 10. She was born June 13, 1918, in Iola, Kan., to Edwin Otho Muninger and Mabel Charlotte Weiland Muninger. On Sept. 21, 1935, she married the love of her life, Charlie Bain and assisted him in their business, Bain's Bakery, and kept the books for his carpentry enterprises while always being a homemaker. She was known to be a good cook and her husband Charlie often said that a rich man didn't eat any better than he did. She especially enjoyed the time shared with her 14 siblings and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 6 sisters and 7 brothers. Survivors include her brother, Benny Muninger of Buffalo, Kan.; her son, Charles Bain and wife Carolyn of Rogers; her granddaughter, Christina Smathers and husband Scott of Topeka, Kan.; great-grandson, J.T. Smathers of Topeka, Kan.; and many nephews and nieces. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tues. Dec. 16 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, Kan. Arrangements are under the care of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers and Countryside Funeral Home in Chanute, Kan.
