Briynlea Faith Shook

Briynlea Faith Shook was born Nov. 22, 2014, in Little Rock, the daughter of Quinton John and Alyssa Peckham Shook. Briynlea received her wings and was ushered into heaven on Dec. 9, 2014, in Fayetteville. She is survived by her parents, and one sister, Stella, all of the home; maternal grandparents, Lisa Norman of Rogers and Larry Peckham of Siloam Springs; paternal grandparents, Jim and Jackie Shook of Grove, Okla., and Heather Buck of Joplin, Mo.; maternal great-grandparents, the Rev. Bill and Kay Norman; paternal great-grandparents, J.L. and Joyce Shook; aunts, uncles and many cousins who love her dearly. Briynlea was diagnosed with an enlarged ventricle of the brain before birth, "Dandy Walker Syndrome," buildup of fluid in the brain. After birth, upon further tests and MRIs, Briynlea was found to have a rare brain malformation known as Lissencephaly, which means "smooth brain" characterized by the absence of normal folds in the cerebral cortex. Also known as Walker-Warburg Syndrome, this disorder effects the development of the muscles, brain and eyes. All needed for use of movement in the body. Because of this syndrome, parents were told that their daughter would never be able to eat, open her eyes or breath on her own. Basically would be in a vegetative state. A decision that no parent should have to make had to be made and now our little Angel is resting in Jesus' arms. We encourage you to do more research on this syndrome and be made aware of the difficulties and hardships it presents. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Redemption Ministries, 2701 W. New Hope Road, Rogers. Interment will follow in the Rogers Cemetery. Arrangements by Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers. Online condolences to www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.
