Kenneth Eugene Garrett

Kenneth Eugene Garrett, 83, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born August 22, 1931, in Patmos, Arkansas, to M.D. and Pauline Garrett. He attended Patmos Schools. He retired from the maintenance department of the Pine Bluff School District in 1996, after 20 years of service. He was also employed as a meat cutter for Ryburn-Glover Meat Packing Company. As a teenager he worked for Moore's Packing House in Hope. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of White Hall. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter and was a member of the Hart/Fairchild Hunting Club in Rosston, Arkansas. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his family and worked side by side with his wife in her philanthropic work for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Easter Seal Society, as well as many local projects. He was known as the "Cotton Candy Man" by his loving ESA sisters and brothers. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Garrett, of Pine Bluff, one daughter, Debbie Ray and her husband, Tommy of El Dorado and two grandsons, Chase Ray of Houston, Texas and Cody Ray of El Dorado. He is also survived by one step-son, Steve Womble, his wife Dawn of Pilot Point, Texas and one granddaughter, Renata Womble of Ft. Worth, Texas; three great-grandsons, Jonathan and Bradley Ray of Covington, Louisiana and Eric Daniels of Ft. Worth, Texas. Other survivors include a sister, Frances Fairchild of Hope, Arkansas and one brother, Jimmy Garrett (Patsy) of McCaskill, Arkansas. A sister, Janice Faulkner preceded him in death. He departs this world to live in his Heavenly Home with other family members. Many nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends throughout the United States, will surely miss his smiling face, his mild manners and wonderfully loving warm heart. Visitation will be 10 a.m., Friday, until the start of the service at Robinson's. Funeral services will 11 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2014, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Mark Faulkner and Reverend Paul Williams officiating.
