Shirley Mae Hammett

Shirley Mae Hammett, 78, a resident of Prairie Grove, passed away Dec. 5, 2014, at Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville. She was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Tucumcari, N.M., the daughter of James and Esther Frasier Potter. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hammett; two brothers, Paige Kingston and James Potter. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Campbell and husband, Craig, and Karen Crawley and husband, Larry, all of Prairie Grove; one son, Chris Hammett of Joplin, Mo.; one sister, Sharon McConnell of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren, Misty Hausam, Tim Campbell, Rachel Dixon, Valerie Doyle, Nicole Ferguson and Mallory Hammett; seven great-grandchildren, Trystyn Jones, Addie Hausam, William McFarland, Quintin McFarland, Eli McFarland, Kaid Peck and Brighton Doyle. Funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Fayetteville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at 11 a.m. at the Prairie Grove Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the Prairie Grove Christian Church, 611 Wayne Villines Road, Prairie Grove, AR 72753.
