James 'Jim' Aubrey Thompson

James "Jim" Aubrey Thompson of Springdale, Ark., went to his eternal home in Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 22, 2014, at the age of 63. He was born in Fayetteville, Ark., on May 27, 1951, to Aubrey and Lucile Morris Thompson. He was preceded in death by his mother; father; brother-in-law, Oddy Straight; and mother-in-law, Alma Hadley Rodden. Jim lived all of his life in Springdale, Ark., and attended Springdale Public Schools. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Springdale "Cross Church." He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a loving, wonderful and amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle to his family, and friend to all who knew him. He was a genuinely compassionate, caring man who would do anything to help anyone. He loved animals and they loved him, and he taught all who were close to him to feel the same genuine love for all living creatures. Jim worked at Stone Container for 32 years and ran a catering business for two years after retiring from Stone. He was also very involved in selling postcards online in which he found such joy and connections with people all over the world. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Rodden Thompson of the home; and two daughters, Heather Garza and husband, Robert Garza, Kaci Truong and husband, Nguyen Truong, all of Springdale. Jim had four grandchildren, Mackenzie "Kenzie" Garza, Cole Garza, Blake Garza and Gabriella "Gaby" Truong; one brother, George W. Thompson and wife, Mary, of Springdale; one sister, Sandra Straight of Springdale. He had many nieces, nephews and friends. Jim had a deep love for his family, his friends, past co-workers and all of the family pets. Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.
