Gela 'Joann' Wood

Gela "Joann" Wood (Granny), 79, of Greenland went to be with our Lord on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, in Fayetteville. She was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Fayetteville. She was a member of Gateway Church of Northwest Arkansas. She was a much loved wife, mom, granny, sister, aunt and friend to so many people and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Odean "Woody" Wood; her parents; and multiple siblings. She is survived by son, Larry Wood of Fayetteville; daughter, Tami McCarty of Broken Arrow, Okla.; son, Scott Wood of Greenland; sister, Donna Leming of Patrick; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at Beard's Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery, under the direction of Beard's Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Circle of Life Hospice.
