Zeno Zolli Jr.

Zeno Zolli Jr., 86, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. He was born on Dec. 29, 1927, in Bethlehem, Pa., to Zeno Zolli Sr. and Sophie Holzinger Zolli. He has been a resident of Bella Vista since 1993. He graduated from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa., with a bachelor's degree in biology, LeHigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., with a master's degree in bacteriology, and received his doctorate in microbiology from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich. Throughout his career, Zeno aided in the research and development of antibiotics, such as spectinomycin, erythromycin, oxytetracycline, tetracycline and neomycin for use in poultry and large/small animals. He served as radioman third class (submarine service) in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Bella Vista; his son, Jeff; and daughter, Sue; granddaughter, Holly; great-granddaughters, Lauren and Jane; stepdaughter, Dale; and stepson, Keith. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.
