Betty L. Swanson, 92, of Van Buren passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014. She was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Muskogee, Okla., to the late Mark and Margaret Ogden. She was a retired legal secretary, a homemaker and a substitute teacher for the Van Buren School District. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Van Buren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard R. Swanson; and two brothers, Dee and Gordon Ogden. She is survived by a daughter, Jane Reamer and husband, Steve, of Prairie Grove; two sons, John Swanson of Van Buren, and Tim Swanson and wife, Janet, of Collinsville, Okla.; four grandchildren, Steven Swanson of Barling, Joe Ivey of Goshen, Beth Kvamso of Fayetteville and Aleyah Miller of Novato, Calif.; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Swanson, Rosemary Miller, Naomi Miller, Emma Kvamso and Ragen Ivey. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel, with interment of ashes at a later date at the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
