John T. Hogle, age 91, of Fayetteville, passed away April 15, 2014. He was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Muskogee, Okla., to Alonzo Talmadge and Nannie Leola (Golding) Hogle. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rose Marie (Cozad) Hogle; daughter, Dr. Deanna Ernst and husband Leslie J. Ernst III of Sugarland, Texas; daughter, Debra Sherrod and husband Mark Sherrod of Corrales, N.M.; son, Stephen Hogle and wife Beverly (Baughman) Hogle of Trimble, Mo.; daughter, Susan Woodward and husband Dr. Dennis Woodward of Warsaw, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Stephanie and Lucas Woodward, Patrick and Michael Ernst; Josh Sherrod, Travis, Tyler and Jacob Hogle; and nephew, Fred Hogle and his wife Sharon, of Muskogee, Oklahoma. John is preceded in death by brother, Lon W. Hogle and his wife Ruby, and sister, Martha Jean Hogle. The memorial service will be Tuesday, April 22 at 1 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, Ark., with Reverend Steven Pulliam officiating. John enlisted in the Army Corps of Engineers in 1942 and went to North Africa, India and Burma for three years service in the 853rd Engineer Aviation Battalion. He completed his Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Iowa in 1947 after returning from WW2. He worked in his father's business, the Hogle Company, in Muskogee, Okla., for 10 years before relocating to Indianapolis, Ind., and then West Lafayette, Ind., working for Eli Lilly Co. He pursued a lifelong wish to research his ancestry and published "The First Five Hogle Families In America And Their Descendants" in 2001. His research spanned 30 years meeting relatives throughout America, Canada and Holland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church "Count Me In" Fund.
