Marilyn Hellman Commerford

Marilyn Hellman Commerford, 83, of Fayetteville, Ark., was born April 4, 1931, in St. Louis, Mo., and passed away at Mercy Hospital on April 12, 2014. She was the daughter of Dr. Joseph B. Hellman and Mary Beatrice Kunkler Hellman. She attended St. Joseph Academy High School and graduated from St. Louis University College of Nursing with a BSN in 1953. She spent her nursing career as a geriatric critical care nurse. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her older sister, Jacqueline Sontag. She married Jack Commerford on Sept. 26, 1953. She is survived by her husband of 61 years; one daughter, Judy and husband, Ed O'Brien, of Plano, Texas; four sons, Daniel and wife, Christine, of Dumfries, Va., Joe and wife, Patty, of Huntsville, Ark., Richard and wife, PJ, of Leesburg, Fla., and Michael and wife, Lisa, of Williamston, S.C.; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Borgmeyer of Glendale, Mo.; and her brother, Thomas Hellman of Chesterton, Mo. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville, Ark. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., in her honor. Funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014. Nelson-Berna Funeral Home and Crematory handled the arrangements.
