Gerald Frank Johnson
Gerald Frank Johnson, 84, of Bella Vista, Ark. died Monday, April 7, 2014, at his home in Bella Vista. He was born on June 7, 1930, in Jackson County, Kan., to Orville A. Johnson and Margaret A. Bahret Johnson.
He grew up on a farm near Holton, Kan., and graduated from Wetmore High School, Wetmore, Kan.
Gerald served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 through 1954 and later graduated from Rockhurst College, Kansas City, Mo. He married Corolene Brammer of Goff, Kan., in 1955 and was employed by Mobil Oil Corp. for 37 years. They lived in Topeka, Kansas City, Chicago and Washington, D.C., areas. He was a member of the Bella Vista Baptist Church and later a charter member of Village Baptist Church of Bella Vista.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corolene; his father and mother; and one brother Lt. D. Max Johnson USAF in 1956.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Jordan Luhr of Grayslake, Ill.; two grandchildren, Timothy and Taylor Luhr; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Donna Johnson of Holton, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Village Baptist Church, 390 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, with Pastor Bill Bowen officiating. Burial will be at the Bella Vista Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
