Melba Jean Jetton, 88, of Springdale, formerly of Fort Smith, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014, in Fayetteville. She was born May 11, 1925, in Muldrow, Okla., to the late J.K. and Coleen Poague. Melba was a Baptist and a homemaker. She lived in Fort Smith until the age of 86 when she relocated to the retirement community, The Gardens of Arkanshire in Springdale. Melba loved to dance and was a member of the Misnotes, a women's traveling performance group that entertained audiences with musical numbers and skits. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Boy Jetton; and her son, James Lamar Jetton. No services will be scheduled. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the funeral home. Inurnment of ashes will be at the Fort Smith National Cemetery at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith. Melba is survived by her son, Randall Jetton of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Brett Jetton and Amy Jetton, both of Fayetteville; and one great-granddaughter, Jasmine Jetton of Fayetteville. She is also survived by her niece, Kathy Davies of Poteau, Okla.; nephew, Jerry Parker Poague Jr. of Van Buren; and numerous cousins.
