Vincent Owen Selby, 88, of Fayetteville died April 2, 2014. He was born in Lutherville, Ark., on June 3, 1925, to parents Samuel Selby and Mary Boley Selby. He attended public school in Lamar, Ark., and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1953. He retired from the Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department where he served for over 30 years as district engineer in Fayetteville and Harrison. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War and retired as Lieutenant Colonel from the Arkansas Army National Guard with 26 years total service to his country. He was an ordained deacon and member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Farmington. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a member of Pittsburgh Lodge 316 Free and Accepted Masons in Lamar, Ark. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Coleman, Ray, Vaughn, Earl and Jack Selby; sister, Alma Burgess; grandson, Kenneth Wayne Selby; and wife of 62 years, Ora Inez Turner Selby. He is survived by his children, Ken and wife, Jeanne, of Rogers, Jerry and wife, Cindy, of Fort Smith, Janet Linebaugh and husband, Scott, of Springdale, Denise Rapier and husband, Mickey, of Rogers; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 3, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, in the chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, with Pastor Mickey Rapier officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Fayetteville.
