Marion "Mickey" Jewell

Marion Louise (Mickey) Jewell, a long-time Siloam Springs resident, passed away peacefully into the hands of the Lord on April 1, 2014. Born in Clinton, Iowa, on March 22, 1921, she received her BS in Nursing from the University of Iowa. She proudly served in the US Army during World War II as a nurse in a field hospital in The Philippines. After the war, she worked in the VA Hospital in Van Nuys before becoming a stewardess for American Airlines. She raised three children in California, then retired to Arkansas to a family property that had been the site of many family adventures over the years. She loved nature and frequently took to the highways in her camper to visit family and see new sights, always accompanied by her faithful dogs. When she could no longer travel, she enjoyed living in beautiful Ozark country, joining friends for sewing circle, volunteering in the hospital and nursing home, attending bible study, walking her dogs through pastures and feeding carrots to the horses. She is survived by her daughter Gail, two sons, Jim and Warren, their spouses, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 3 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2014, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Arkansas with Pastor Wayne Thomas officiating. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to Kind at Heart Ministries, P.O. Box 6932, Siloam Springs, Ark. 72761. To sign the online guest book, visit www.wassonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
