Dorothy Ellis Kirk

Dorothy Ellis Kirk, age 87, of Springdale, Ark., formerly of Noel, Mo., passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the Springdale Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springdale, Ark., where she had been cared for along with the Circle of Life Hospice. Dorothy was born Dec. 3, 1926, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to the late Lyle Allan and Grace Henrietta (Lang) Sergeant. She married Stanley Kirk on April 24, 1949, in Noel, Mo. Dorothy graduated from high school and took several classes at Crowder College. Before retirement, Dorothy had worked as the payroll clerk at the Property Owner's Association in Bella Vista, Ark. She enjoyed crafts, bowling, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. While living in Noel, Mo., before she came to an assisted living facility in Springdale, Ark., Dorothy was a faithful member of the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley R. Kirk on Jan. 8, 1998; her sister, Doris Jean Petersen; her brother-in-law, Alfred Petersen; and her sister-in-law, Helen Sergeant. Dorothy is survived by two brothers, William Lyle Sergeant and wife, LaVeta, of Springdale, Ark., their two sons, Curtis Sergeant and his family of Dadeville, Ala., Terry Sergeant and his family of Abilene, Texas; her brother, Gerald Lee Sergeant of Afton, Okla., and his two sons, Steven Sergeant and David Sergeant, both of Grove, Okla.; along with a host of other family, friends and neighbors who will dearly miss Dorothy. Memorial service for Dorothy Ellis Kirk will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Noel Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home in Noel, Mo. Father Hank Grodecki will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in loving memory of Dorothy Kirk.
