Ray Eugene Hodges

Philomath resident Ray Eugene Hodges died Monday at Corvallis Manor in Corvallis, Oregon. He was 65 years old. He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Clifford and Laura Pauline (Tucker) Hodges. Ray grew up in Eloy, Arizona and Springdale, Arkansas. Ray joined the navy at 17. Later he drove long haul trucks for J.B. Hunt, Red Ball, and Blair Transfer, where he was involved in an accident that permanently disabled him. Ray married Betty Lou Waddell in Lowell, Arkansas on January 16, 1970. In 1983 they adopted twins, Michael and Joel. Ray loved family, friends, football, and western books. The family moved to Oregon in 1998 to enjoy the rain and the ocean. He loved working for Cornerstone, caring for handicapped people. His health problems forced him quit. Preceding Ray in death were his father, Clifford Hodges, stepfather, Clyde Baker, two infant brothers, as well as brother, Timothy Baker and sister, Shirley Morgan. Survivors include his wife Betty, sons, Michael and Joel, mother, Pauline Baker; Perry and Robert Baker, Janice Chambers, Gayle Bryant, Judy Stanhill, Terry Drummond, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1330 SW 35 Street, Corvallis, Ore., on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 3 p.m. Arrangements by Demoss- Durdan Funeral Home www.demossdurdan.com.
