Bernard Monroe Jones

Bernard Monroe Jones, 83, of Siloam Springs, Ark., went to be with our Lord and Savior, Sept. 15, 2013, at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital. Born May 3, 1930, in Madison, Ill., he was the son of Anderson Thomas Jones and Vernest Mary Ellen Rich Jones. He was president of his senior class at Little Rock Central, Little Rock, Ark. On Sept. 3, 1949, he married Willie Jo Acord in Little Rock. They moved to Siloam Springs in 1954, and Bernard and his father, Anderson, opened Jones Tire and Service Center. In 1967, Bernard and John Brown Jr. opened Jones-Brown Pontiac Buick Agency, which they owned for eight years. In 1975, Bernard began his career in real estate, and in 1986 opened the Lindsey and Associates Real Estate office in Rogers, Ark. He was senior vice president and designated broker for the past 27 years. Bernard was a city councilman for the city of Siloam Springs and a member of the Gideons International. He was the worship leader of First Assembly of God Church in Siloam Springs, Ark., for 45 years, and a current member of First Assembly of God Church, Springdale, Ark. Bernard was a devoted Christian husband and father. His hobbies and recreation always centered around his family. He had a passion for gospel and country music. His spare time was spent in music ministry and sharing his faith with others. He was a mentor and disciple to co-workers and friends, and a testimony of leading by example. Survivors include his wife, Willie Jo of the home; three children, Duane Jones and wife, Valerie, of Siloam Springs, Melinda Kay Wilson and husband, David of Siloam Springs, and Gordon Jones and wife, Julie, of Fayetteville, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Maranda Glenn and husband, Ryan, Ashely Newby, Brett Wilson and wife, Brooke, Garrett Jones, Adam Jones, Taylor Jones, Katie Jones and Emily Jones; six-and-a-half great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Darlene Test and Bernadine Jones, both of Springdale, Ark. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Pastor Bob Fant officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs. Contributions can be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Bernard M. Jones Scholarship fund at Arvest Bank.
