Verona Belle Mileur

She was Belle to friends and family. She left this world on Sept. 2, 2013. She was 85 years old; born March 5, 1928, in Lincoln, Ark., to H.R. "Bert" and Omer Kidd. She finished school in Lincoln and worked in the local Bank. She married Robert "Bob" Mileur in July 1948; a marriage that lasted over 65 years. Belle is survived by her husband, Bob, of the home; daughter, Sharon Swain, and husband, Harry, of Lincoln, Ark.; son, Ron and his wife, Laurie, of Cambria, Calif., along with four beloved grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Belle and Bob moved to Oklahoma City in 1949. Belle was a teller at the Citizens State Bank. They moved to Midwest City in 1950 closer to Bob's job and a few years later Belle left the Bank and worked at Tinker as Executive Secretary to several top management personnel. She retired in 1965 to become a housewife and be closer to the family. After the kids were grown, Belle enjoyed several hobbies. Suddenly, the Bass Boat never left without her. True to her nature she soon had her own equipment, and depended on no one for advice. She became a very good Bass fisherman, but her biggest trophy was a 19-lb. Striper from the Illinois River. Then, her love for music and talent for singing harmony, she became a regular in Bob's Western Swing Band. After that they traveled extensively. As age crept in, Belle had several serious health setbacks. During one of those, Bob (with Belle's OK) decided to move to Epworth Villa, a Life Care Retirement Facility. There, they had eight years of relative stress-free freedom and security before Belle had to go to the Nursing Unit, where, after 15 months of loving care she passed away. She will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank the Epworth Family for the great care she received while in the Nursing facility. The Nurses and Aides were efficient and compassionate and the Epworth Hospice worked wonders in the latter stages, and helped through some tough times. Funeral service will be held at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Ark., on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery; there will be no graveside services held at the cemetery.
