Betty Jean McCumber

Betty Jean Piercy McCumber, 91, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Aug. 30, 2013, at Earline Howard Hospice Home, Springdale, Ark. Born Oct. 26, 1921, in Osage Mills, Ark., she was the daughter of Urie Lee Piercy and Ruby G. Barron Piercy Pyeatte. Betty married Charles Nelson "Nick" McCumber in Joplin, Mo., on Feb. 8, 1942. She worked at McCumber's Menswear with her husband for 30 years. Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Frank Wendill Piercy. Survivors include her son, Larry Nelson McCumber and his wife, Joyce of Winchester, Tenn.; two grandsons, Scott Nelson McCumber and Adam Neal McCumber; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Siloam Springs, Ark. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs.
