Our sweet mom, who has been struggling with Alzheimer's for many years, has gone home to be with the Lord. She was the sweetest, most loving and adorably kooky mom there ever was. She had six children in 11 years and none of us can remember her ever raising her voice to us...and yet she kept us in line, like a bunch of ducklings all in a row. She was an amazing mother. We love you and have been missing you for years, Mama. Zada (Cook) McGill Barnhill of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at the age of 80 years old. She was born on Aug. 27, 1933, in Lutie, Texas, to parents, James C. Cook and Laura Cherry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Vada Wauer; brothers, James D. Cook and Eugene Cook; her grandson, Drew McGill; and stepson, Dane Barnhill. Zada is survived by her six children, Raye Ann Blumthal of Samantha, Ala., Julie Salsman, Dan McGill, Rex McGill, Nancy Holland, Keith McGill, all of Fayetteville, Ark., her stepdaughter, Leisa Cure of Paragould, Ark., and their spouses; two brothers, Loyd Cook of Dallas, Texas, and Louis Cook of Libertyville, Ill.; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Her memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, Ark., with Charlie Foster officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001; or the National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc., 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034.
