Thyra Lee Allen, 91, of Elkins, Ark., died Oct. 28, 2013, at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Newark, Ark., the daughter of Jim and Alta Witt Freeze. She was a retired supervisor for Kmart, a Christian, and the widow of Robert A. Allen Jr., whom she married on June 2, 1951, and who preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jim Freeze and Alta Witt Freeze Ortman. Survivors include one son, Robert "Ted" Allen of Elkins, Ark.; two daughters-in-law, Bonnie Hughes of Fayetteville, Ark., and Jo Ann Beadle of Rogers, Ark.; two sisters, Carolyn Freeze Smith of Oklahoma and Sylvia Hammons of California; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Zackary Ted and Monica Allen of Lincoln, Ark., and John Hughes and Cindy Scott of Columbus, Kan.; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Lavina "Michelle" and Darin Strange of Farmington, Ark., and Samantha and Jacob Holly of Fayetteville, Ark.; 15 great-grandchildren, Ashlee Taylor Allen and Gracie Jo Allen, both of Huntsville, Ark., Jackson Russell Shue, Maya Elizabeth Shue and Zoe Isabella Shue, all of Lincoln, Ark., Jake Wyatt Allen, Jake Colly and Allyonna Holly, all of Fayetteville, Ark., Zackary Dalton Strange, Cole Everett Strange, Cambre Lynn Strange and Malachi James Strange, all of Farmington, Ark., and Denver Hughes, Dayton Hughes and Dallas Scott, all of Columbus, Kan. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Crystal Hills Family Fellowship in Elkins, Ark., with The Rev. Jasper Hankins officiating. Interment will be in the Pinnacle Cemetery, under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net, of Huntsville, Ark. Pallbearers will be Dalton Strange, Cole Strange, Darin Strange, Ted Allen, Zack Allen, Kenny Mason, John Hughes, Randy Couch, Tex Cunningham and Jackson Shue. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Crystal Hills Family Fellowship in Elkins.
