William L. Sturgeon

William L. Sturgeon, 84, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born in Hillsboro, Ill., on May 1, 1929, the son of E.E. and Eva (File) Sturgeon. He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville. His career was in sales and marketing, traveling extensively, which he enjoyed. He served in the military with the Occupational Forces in Germany during the Korean War. Bill is survived by his wife, Jean of Bella Vista; sisters, Dorcas Fergusson (Robert) of Springfield, Ill., and Mary Lou Vawter of Hastings, Neb.; brothers, James R. Sturgeon (Olga) of Springfield, Ill., Richard A. Sturgeon (Barbara) of Champaign, Ill., and C. Eugene Sturgeon (Catheryn) of Abingdon, Va.; plus many nieces and nephews whom he knew well. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dr. Edward E. Sturgeon (Gerry) of Stillwater, Okla., Howard File Sturgeon (Doris) of Kirkwood, Mo., L. Bruce Sturgeon (Hazel) of Cottage Hills, Ill.; and sister, Lois Branham (John) of Springfield, Ill. Memorial services will be held early next year in Illinois. Cremation arrangements by Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville.
