Dean Corson, age 90, Bella Vista, Ark., passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, in Bella Vista. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Annunciation Church in Coon Rapids, Iowa. Military honors will be performed by Gurney Park Post 357 of the American Legion from Coon Rapids. Interment will be at a later date in Annunciation Cemetery at Coon Rapids. A Rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Annunciation Church in Coon Rapids. Kenneth Dean, son of Guy and Grace (Robinson) Corson, was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Rockwell City, Iowa. He graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1942. Dean served with the United States Army during World War II. He graduated from Upper Iowa University in 1949 and moved to Coon Rapids, Iowa, where he worked for Garst & Thomas and to pitch for the Coon Rapids Merchants baseball team. On Jan. 12, 1950, Dean was united in marriage with Virginia Christy at Dedham. Dean and Virginia were blessed with three children. They made their home in Coon Rapids where Dean worked his way up to plant manager for Garst & Thomas until his retirement in 1987. Dean and Virginia moved to Bella Vista, Ark., in 1992, and were members of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista. He is survived by his wife, Virginia of 63 years; daughter, Christy McConnell and husband, Terry, of Springdale, Ark.; son, Richard Corson and wife, Ann, of Coon Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Angie Corson of Coon Rapids; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Johnson & Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids.
