Shirley Jean Bone

Shirley Jean Bone, 88, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. She was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of Margaret Cartner and William Armstrong. She was a homemaker, and an active member of Eastern Star and the Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years. She had lived in Bella Vista area since 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Bone in March of 1994, whom she married in June of 1946; her parents; one son, Brian Dennis Bone; one grandson, Jeremy Wayne McHalffey; and five brothers. Shirley is survived by one daughter, Sherilyn J. Bone of Bella Vista; one son, Joseph J. Bone II and his wife, Amy, of Virginia Beach, Va.; two grandsons, Michael McHalffey of Clarksville, Ark., Brian Bone of Grasonville, Md.; two granddaughters, Angel McBee of Gulfport, Miss., Jennifer Blachura of Virginia Beach, Va.; and eight great-grandchildren. Also she left behind her furry child, Holley, and plans to meet Smokey, Snowflake and Missy on the Rainbow Bridge. A memorial service will be at a later date in Paragould, Ark., at Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be sent to your local animal shelter. This special poem was written in 1972 by Shirley: "In the end, my dear, your harvest so sweet, will be a great armful of friends you will greet.
